Our reputation depends on what our guests think of their stay at the Meadow House. We do everything we can to make your stay comfortable and we always ask you to provide us with comments when you’re ready to leave.
Sisters Lauren and Erin stayed the weekend. We enjoyed their company and they left us this note on the back of one of our cards.

Neelesh’s mother came to visit his family from India. They wanted to show her the Australian outback but they didn’t want to rough it. So Neelesh and Anu chose the Meadow House for its setting and luxurious appointments.
“Dear Victor and Carol, Thank you for sending us back our few belongings which we mistakenly left behind. The Meadow House is a beautiful, tranquil property. It was very well equipped and felt like a home away from home. From the beautiful flowers to the very equipped kitchen to the beautiful and clean home was a perfect place for us to relax and unwind from our busy city life. My mother in law especially loved the natural surroundings. We hope to be back soon. we wish you both a happy and healthy 2015.”
Best wishes Neelesh and Anu December 2014
Verna and Paul have created a very clever business based on re-cycling. It’s a high pressure, stressful life and they just wanted to get away and do nothing in particular. They chose the Meadow House for its isolation and comfort. They also took advantage of the cook your own recipes that are available.
“What a fabulous house. Relaxing, quiet with all the comforts of home. Beautiful surroundings and a very welcoming host. Thoroughly enjoyed our break away. Thank you very much [to] Carol and Victor.”

Ian and Sandy are precocious explorers of rural Australia. They have previously stayed and explored the Mudgee area but not the Sofala area, Dunns Swamp and Lake Windamere. They used the Meadow House as their base and toured the countryside for the 3 days stay. Being Photographers they walked the property and took lots of pictures.
“Hi Carol & Victor, Just letting you know we arrived back home Ok this afternoon. Traffic was heavy from around Kelso on but otherwise OK. Just wanted to say Thanks again for a delightful few days stay at The Meadow House which we both enjoyed very much. It is a wonderful place to relax and unwind and also a great jumping-off point to explore the interesting surrounding areas. We have stayed at Mudgee several times before and loved the historic towns and areas around there as well as the wineries and other “foody” places that are springing up everywhere there now. We didn’t get to see as much of the area around Ilford and Sofala, nor did we get to explore the Capertee Valley and Gardens of Stone until now, so that was a big thing for us on this trip.
Will put up some of the photos we took while we were enjoying our stay at The Meadow House and nearby areas. Thanks again for making our stay so memorable and we will take pleasure in recommending your Meadow House and hospitality to as many as we can who we think will enjoy it and treat it with the respect it so richly deserves. Already thinking about planning a longer stay sometime in Spring or early Autumn when there are more birds and animals out and about. Yes, I know you see a lot more, Carol as you are lucky enough to be able to rise early when it is all happening on your Rural Patch. Sorry we didn’t get a chance to meet you on this visit. Enjoyed meeting and chatting with Victor very much”.

Tony and Ruth brought a couple of friends for a golfing weekend at the Kandos Golf Club but liked the Meadow House so much that they decided against the golf and stayed in.
“Beautiful place to getaway
Meadow House is a beautifully decorated home in a quiet secluded location. It’s a great place where you can relax, read, play cards, cook and go for walks with family or friends. The house is exceptionally well equipped with all manner of kitchen and dining equipment including a range of condiments, coffee, tea and freshly baked cookies. The owner is very friendly, thoughtful and helpful – he had the fire going when we arrived in the evening. Meadow house is a little way from Rylstone and other villages so you can explore the area but the property is so nice you don’t want to leave it. It’s only a 2 bedroom house so best for a romantic getaway, a couple of friends or a small family”.

Margarette and Warren are an interesting and delightful couple who have traveled extensively. They were particularly interested in the ethnic origin of some of the artwork and nick-knacks.

well Sal and I finally used the week long residency prize at Meadow House, Ilford and it was fabulous! such a great prize and such a treat to be tucked away in a lovely house with a good view.
we had gin and tonics for morning tea and painted on the verandah when we were not eating something delicious, in house or at Mt Tomah botanical garden.
a wonderful time with lots of painting produced and both Sal and I each left Victor a painting for the ‘Meadow House Collection’.

Barbara and Alexander stayed with us for an extended long weekend and made good use of the kitchen.
“We absolutely loved our stay at Meadow House – it is such a special place! The house is divine with absolutely everything thought of down to the last detail. The sort of place where you feel immediately at home . And what a ripper of a fireplace – kept us nice and warm! The kitchen was so well stocked with cooking utensils etc etc and we cooked up some great meals. There was nothing more we could have asked for! Thank you so much!
I have only one complaint – the brownies were far too irresistibly delicious and I couldn’t stop eating them and have no doubt added a few inches to my waistline!!!
Many thanks and best regards.”

Janne, Sue, Chris and Christine planned a winter kayaking trip on Dunne Swamp and wanted somewhere comfortable to stay. They chose The Meadow House for it’s extensive features and convenience.
Yes believe or not we still went kayaking on Dunn swamp on Saturday for five hours.. Was a fresh cool temp down to 2 degrees but sunny and not very windy, so we had a great kayak with no one else in sight except plenty of swamp hens to join us.. Took along warm soup to keep us warm ..
Thanks for a lovely stay we had a great time and will put a positive review in stayz.. We found the house very well appointed with lots of attention to detail and lots of thoughtful touches .. We especially loved the warm fireplace which of course seemed to rocket through the wood..
Thanks once again..

Amanda, Colin, Lisa & David stayed with us for a long weekend. It was a bit of a reunion (Amanda and Colin are from Victoria while Lisa and David are from Sydney) as well as a chance to see the local sites and visit both Bathurst and Mudgee. They were delighted with the Meadow House and we loved having them.
“Dear Victor and Carol,
Thank you so very much for sharing your beautiful property and The Meadow House, with us. The four of us had a fabulous weekend and so enjoyed The Meadow House that we really didn’t want to leave. The house is perfect in every way – comfortable, tastefully decorated, clean and in such a peaceful and serene setting, David and Colin enjoyed wandering around the property, cameras in hand, photographing the wildlife and flora, whilst Lisa and I cooked up a storm in the kitchen or relaxed by the fire. Just what we needed to recharge some tired bodies! We were most appreciative of the ‘little things’ : the fire roaring as we arrived, the well equipped kitchen, a stocked pantry and freshly baked brownies – Victor, you have thought of everything to make your guests feel welcome. So thank you again for a most enjoyable weekend. We couldn’t think of staying anywhere else when next visiting Mudgee district. Simply wonderful!
Amanda & Colin, David & Lisa August 2016

But we also sponsor art prizes by providing a holiday for the winner of the Art Unlimited landscape section. Art Unlimited is a big event in a little town and we are delighted that the organizers have selected a week’s stay at The Meadow House as the prize for the prestigious landscape section. And it’s nice to know that we’re being talked about.
Because we believe in supporting the arts we are developing a niche market based on the concept of an Artist’s Retreat. Since there are no specific areas of advertising for this kind of concept we rely on publicity to create awareness of the opportunities that The Meadow House offers artists and those with an artist’s soul.
